Mermaid National Champion 2009
Winner — Celia No. 5 Trophy 2009
Rush Sailing Club’s Paddy Dillon (on helm) with Rory Grimes (sitting out) and Johnny Dillon (at mast) sailing No. 131 Wild Wind to victory during Mermaid Week 2009 hosted by Sligo Yacht Club. Of the five races Paddy and crew had a win, three seconds and a third.
They also won the Celia No. 5 trophy for boats older than 40 years. |

Runner up — Mermaid National Championship
Winner — Masters Trophy
Skerries Sailing Club’s Sam Shiels (on helm) with Con Bisset (centre) and Doire Shiels sailing No. 189 Azeezy to 2nd place during Mermaid Week 2009. Of the five races Sam and crew had a win, two thirds and two fourths. Sam also won the Masters competition for sailors of a certain age! |

Third — Mermaid National Championship
Skerries Sailing Club’s Jim Dempsey (on helm) with Seán Collins and Paul Amerlynck sailing No. 36 Elizabeth to 3rd place during Mermaid Week 2009. Of the five races Jim and crew had a win, a third, two fifths and a sixth. |

Fourth — Mermaid National Championship
National Yacht Club’s Roger Bannon with Bobby Collins and Emily Bannon sailing No. 102 Endeavour to 4th place during Mermaid Week 2009. Of the five races Roger and crew had a win, two seconds, a twelfth and a retirement (broken boom). |

Fifth — Mermaid National Championship
Rush Sailing Club’s Enda Weldon with Ian Price and Cara McGauley sailing No. 186 My Di to 5th place during Mermaid Week 2009. Of the five races Enda and crew had three fourths, a fifth and a seventh. |

Winner of Daphne Perpetual Challenge Cup
Skerries Sailing Club’s Paul Winters with Brian Connell and Robert Winters sailing No. 183 Wannago to win the Daphne during Mermaid Week 2009. Of the five races Paul and crew was first in the Daphne four times and also had a fifth. They finished 11th overall.
The Daphne is awarded to the best boat that competed last year, but was outside the top 15. |

Winner of the Designer’s Trophy 2009 Winner of the Munster Trophy 2009
Foynes Yacht Club’s Darragh McCormack with Donal Moroney and Neilus Brouder sailing No. 46 Argo to win the Designer’s during Mermaid Week 2009. Of the five races Darragh and crew was first in the Designer’s once and had four seconds. They also won the Munster Trophy with five straight wins. They finished 16th overall.
The Designer’s is awarded to the best boat that was outside the top 25 last year. |

Winner of the Celia Cup 2009
Rush Sailing Club Yacht Club’s Paddy Archer with John Rooney and Kevin Traynor sailing No. 18 Clare. Paddy, the Mermaid Sailing Association President, finished 26th and will thus be awarded the Celia Cup and therefore will be favourite to win the Designer’s in 2010.

Winner of the Crew Race 2009
Rush Sailing Club Yacht Club’s Eoin Butterly (seen here handling spinnaker pole) won the Mermaid Week Crew Race for a second time in No. 188 Innocence, with owner Anthony Carthy and Margeurite Carthy as his crew. Innocence was ninth overall and is surely a boat to watch in future.
