See the For Sale/Wanted page. 2nd March 2011 · Thumbalina No. 26 is for sale. This is a beautifully maintained boat, fully equipped for racing. See the For Sale/Wanted page. 1st March 2011 · The 2011 Declaration Form is now available on the downloads page. Remember, to race in open events you have to be a paid up member of the MSA and have signed the current year’s declaration form. 28th February 2011 · Further to the decision at the AGM to update the ‘Blue Book’, a first draft of the revised version is available on the Downloads page, thanks to Roger Bannon. Please comment on the new version on the ‘Blue Book’ thread on the Technical Forum or write to the secretary@dublinbaymermaid.org. 28th February 2011 · The Annual General Meeting took place on 23rd of February 2011. Details on For Sale / Wanted. 18th February 2011 · Des McWilliam and Roger Bannon are actively debating the Mainsail Reefing issue on the Technical Forum. Why not join them—Click on Technical Forum scroll down to the bottom. 17th February 2011 · Roger Bannon’s “Tuning, Handling and Boat Preparation Guide for Dublin Bay Mermaid” is now available on the Downloads page—2 documents, the main guide and an addendum for Swing Spreaders. It’s a must for beginners and experienced Mermaid sailors alike. 13th February 2011 · Roger has recently been posting on the new Mermaid Technical Forum. Roger doesn’t shy away from controversy, and this time he is giving us some food for thought on the “Blue Book”, booms, tuning and weighing. His well respected tuning guides will shortly be available on this site. 13th February 2011 · The 2011 Calendar is starting to fill up. See the Events page. 13th February 2011 · Kim Roberts of Killimer, Co. Clare has bought No. 164 Gail built in 1974 by Joe Boylan. Kim reports that Gail is likely to be based at Foynes. 13th February 2011 · A new Mermaid Technical Forum has been created. The Mermaid Blog will now be reserved for Racing, Social, Fun and MSA items. The technical discussions on Mainsail Reefing, Weighing and Booms have been moved to this forum. Click on Technical Forum on the menu above. 11th February 2011 · Ants Weldon reports that he has purchased no 178 (unnamed) built by the late Bob Macnamara and intends to have her completed for the 2011 season. He also reports on progress on the three new boats under construction in North Dublin. Ants’s boat is ready for planking, with Paddy Archer’s and Enda Weldon’s boats reaching this stage next week. They will then be calling in the heavy gang to get the planks on. If you want to help contact Ants, Enda or Paddy (email web@dublinbaymermaid.org and I will pass on contact details). Some photos to follow. 11th February 2011 · Do you know your Mermaids? Check the Mermaid Blog (see left) to see a different mystery photo every day. Can you guess the identity of the boat before anybody else. The prize? - a nice warm feeling that you can beat the other Mermaid sailors! This idea is shamelessly robbed from Eddie English of Sailcork.com who daily posts mystery ship photos on his Facebook page. 10th February 2011 · Yes, the sand paper and varnish have been out and the Mermaid website is ready for the 2011 season. How well do you know your Mermaids? Name the boat pictured in the new masthead above. Entries by commenting on the Mermaid Blog. 8th February 2011 · The Mermaid Blog is back! It’s now an interactive general blog about Mermaids. There’s a series of posts about agenda items at the AGM on 23rd Feb. Why not contribute your view on Championship 2011 & 2012, Boat Weighing, Youth Championship, Mainsail Reefing, Boom Construction or anything that excites you! 7th February 2011 · Thanks for filling out the poll on your favourite weather website. The Tide & Wind page has been changed to reflect this, with WindGuru and XC Weather being the favourites among Mermaid sailors. 7th February 2011 · No. 30 Elenora is for sale.
