Dublin Bay Sailing Club

Dublin Bay Sailing Club is where the Mermaid story began.  John Kearney was commissioned by Dublin Bay Sailing Club to design a successful racing dinghy in 1932 and the rest is history.  Mermaids are still sailed on Dublin Bay along with 400 other boats ranging from over 50ft to small dinghies.

NYC, RStGYC and RIYC are clubs of DBSC.

Foynes Yacht Club

Founded in 1962, Foynes is the home of Mermaids on the Shannon estuary.  With an active fleet of Mermaids, the club is renowned for its hospitality ashore as well as its challenging racing on the lower ShannonFoynes will be the venue for Mermaid Week 2010.

 

Rush Sailing Club

Founded in 1954, by a group of local enthusiasts with no facilities and less money. None the less, several of them built their own Mermaids.

 

Since those early days, the club has developed beyond recognition, with a fine clubhouse, yard, private slipway and fenced and serviced boat park.

Skerries Sailing Club

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2009, SSC prides itself on its friendly atmosphere. Newcomers to sailing are warmly welcomed. A small fleet of adult and junior dinghies is available to newcomers at nominal rates to help them improve their sailing. Friendly coaching is also available. 

Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club

CYBC has achieved a reputation for its ability to host National and International events.  Based on the North side of Dublin Bay the club is family orientated with cruising, racing and an active social calendar.

Irish Sailing Association

The ISA is national governing body for all forms of recreational and competitive activities involving sail and engine powered craft in Ireland.

 

The ISA website www.sailing.ie is the definitive resource for all sailing and boating information in Ireland.

Sligo Yacht Club

Sligo Yacht Club is located in Rosses Point on the edge of Sligo Bay and is one of the most ideal and beautiful locations for inshore racing in the country.

The club hosted the 2009 Mermaid Championship in August.

 

Wexford Harbour Boat & Tennis Club

Founded in 1873, the club has an active tennis and sailing membership.  Dinghy racing throughout the year is complemented by sailing courses and cruises in company in the summer.  The club has excellent shore facilities and is one of the Ireland’s premier locations for dinghy racing events having hosted many National & European championships.

RNLI Lifeboats

The RNLI is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. 

There are over 230 RNLI lifeboat stations and over 70 RNLI lifeguarded beaches throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. 

Over the years Mermaid sailors have been members of the crew of Dun Laoghaire, Skerries, Rosslare and Wexford Lifeboats.  Please support them in their volunteer work by donating generously.

National 18 Class at Royal Cork Yacht Club

The National 18ft class is the largest one design multi crewed dinghy sailing in Cork Harbour. The fleet races actively from the start of May to end Sept.  The class has regular league racing Wed and Sat from the RCYC and competes for a very impressive array of class trophies throughout the season. Three championship events are held each year, the South Coast Championships, the Irish Nationals and the British and Irish Championships, affectionately known as the “Cock ‘O the North.
